Navya Singh is a disciple of Smt. Guru Bhuvana Venkatesh.
She started learning Bharatnatyam from her Guru in 2010 at the age of 5.
Navya has a strong relationship with her Guru, who has been a vital part of
her Bharatanatyam education and guided her through complex routines.
Bharatanatyam has been a grounding constant for Navya since her early
childhood, bringing passion, discipline, and community into her life.
She performed her Salangai Pooja event in December 2016 at Sanatana Dharma
Kendra in Milpitas with the blessings of her Guru Smt Bhuvana Venkatesh and
Acharya Smt. Prabha Nagrajan and friends and families.
Navya has participated and performed in various cultural events
and dance performances from 2010 in Bay Area, such as the MahaShivrathri
Natyostav, Vasantha Navratri, and Arudra Natyanjali. She also participated
in some fundraising dance events for non-profit organizations. She danced
in the Kalpana event ‘Seasons,' organized by Yuvabharati Cultural Org in
2019, and in the Legends of SKANDA event organized by Shanmukha Theaters
in March, before the pandemic.
Navya is a very graceful, composed, and skillful dancer.
She is motivated by her Guru and the senior students of the
Nritya Nivedan School of Dance. She is very passionate and
enjoys her dancing thoroughly. She holds a special bond with
her peers. She uses dance as an outlet to express herself and
cherishes classical dance as a source of pride and prestige
in Indian culture.
Navya is currently a Senior at Valley Christian High School
in San Jose, USA. She is the president of the South Asian
Student Union at her school,
where she applies what she learns about culture from dance
to the club. She looks forward to continuing her passion in
the coming years.
